We are delighted to announce that we are offering three new BTEC courses as of September add to our already diverse curriculum. The new courses are in Science, Engineering and Computer Science.

BTEC Manufacturing Engineering

UTC is training the next generation of Engineers by offering the Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Manufacturing Engineering.  This qualification is for learners who want to pursue a career in engineering, and who want to be able to collaborate across and apply knowledge, skills and understanding in other branches of engineering.  Engineering covers a broad variety of roles and it involves the application of scientific principles and practical knowledge to transform ideas and materials into products and systems safely and support them during their lifetime.
Learners gain relevant skills and knowledge from studying a range of units, for example in computer-aided manufacturing, modern manufacturing systems, microcontrollers, additive manufacturing and machining.
This qualification is aimed at learners preparing for roles in manufacturing engineering such as a Quality Control Technician via higher apprenticeship programmes or to higher education courses in engineering.

BTEC Next Generation Applied Science

UTC is creating the Next Generation of Scientists through a completely new science programme which reflects the modern scientific skills and knowledge demanded by 21st Century employers and universities. This programme allows students to choose from a variety of pathways, including biomedical and general science, with the opportunity to achieve the equivalent of 1-3 A-Levels.

Over the two/three years of study, students will learn a variety of skills and principles including the principles and the application of science, practical science procedures and techniques, investigation skills, laboratory techniques and contemporary issues in science.

This qualification is suitable for students looking to progress into Science-based degrees, however it is also extremely valuable for direct progression into scientific workforce roles such as; Science/Laboratory Technician, Chemical Analyst, Chemist, Biochemist, Pipette Technician & Laboratory Analyst.

BTEC Computer Science

This programme will provide you with the required knowledge and technical skills to further your studies within this fascinating and challenging field.

You will develop skills in a wide range of disciplines including (but not limited to) Network Design & Security, Computer Forensics, Web Design, Programming, Software Design and IT Security.

The Level 2 progression will lead to the Level 3 route, whilst the Level 3 progression could lead to an apprenticeship, higher and Royal Navy apprenticeship or a University course. You could also progress onto a full-time higher education programme or seek employment within the IT industry in a wide range of professional environments.
