Welcome from the Headteacher: Jo Ware
I feel incredibly privileged to be the Headteacher of UTC Plymouth and I want to welcome you to our website. As a current or potential student or parent, we hope that you will find our ethos and values as exciting as we do. We pride ourselves on providing a STEAM focused education that supports our students to be the architects of the future. If you have not yet joined us, we are excited at the prospect of you having an extremely bright future as one of our students.
A young person’s education is incredibly important and shapes the person that they will become. We pride ourselves on following our core values of: Dedication, Discipline, Respect, Resilience and Professionalism throughout every aspect of our college life. Whether someone joins in Year 7 or Year 12, our expert staff will support them to fulfill their true potential and achieve their preferred choice of university, further education or advanced apprenticeships. We are honoured to work alongside a raft of professionals in the STEAM industry and are delighted to offer opportunities to work with our Industry Partners including Babcock and the Royal Navy.
No colleges are the same but we are proud to be different. We are proud to call our young people our colleagues and their voice is what allows us to provide an educational experience with the young person at its heart. Through the support of our families, we know we are at the very forefront of education for 11 to 19-year-olds. We offer you an incredible opportunity to specialise in STEAM subjects in a state-of-the-art facility that is the envy of colleges far and wide.
Our approach to learning is built around a philosophy which involves an inquiry based curriculum at KS3 with our ‘Think Like an Engineer’ pedagogy at the centre. Students begin to specialise in their chosen pathway at KS4 and can further fine tune this at KS5. Our curriculum is intended to maximise each child’s chances of success and will provide all with a great foundation for their future. We’re positive we’re the right choice for you, whether you’re looking to gain accreditation across a range of subjects or to leave us and continue studying STEAM at higher or further education. Since re -opening in 2018, we have a proven track record of success securing incredible destinations for our students whether they leave us aged 16 or after Sixth Form. We also offer our own apprenticeship scheme.
