What A Good One Looks Like
Look at our fantastic display boards in maths and English. Great work by Jason and fantastic to see WAGOLL happening at UTC Plymouth #visible learning. Here at the UTC we celebrate beautiful books and industrious work!

BTEC Pearson
Our end of the week has been pretty fun as we welcomed Pearson Film crew to UTC Plymouth to film part of their national campaign on attracting more girls into STEM qualifications. Our girls really showcased their amazing contributions to UTC life and our wider community. A big thank you to Cat Clarke who organised their day as Women in STEM lead for UTC Plymouth. Picture here are some of our ‘little women’ from Pilgrim Primary Academy who were super confident talking about STEM and their experiences at UTC Plymouth. Well done to Siana and Lena!

Triad Observations
We have continued our peer observations and learning walks with staff working in triads. I have stopped by some really interesting conversations regarding pedagogy. Brilliant to see our staff so engaged with developing their teaching skills. This Triad were first to start and finish so good work from Pete, Sophie and Steve!

Congratulations to Simon and Jasmin who received a certificate from HRH Queen Elizabeth II. This represents all their hard work and training and finally becoming a member of the Royal Navy!

Red Wolf Moon
At the start of the week we saw the amazing Red wolf eclipse. I got a few pictures from my deck at 5 am. A bit chilly first thing but worth getting up early to see such an amazing site!

University Trip
Some of our Year 10 students were treated to a morning at University of Plymouth’s Science and Technology showcase. They had the opportunity to get a flavour of University life by attending lectures followed by engaging in a variety of interactive STEM activities in the ‘marquee’. Dan man-handling a Segway was a must-see!

Peer Review
As part of Plymouth challenge we are working with three other schools. As part of this brilliant initiative I visited Pool Academy in Redruth, Cornwall. Spent a great day with colleagues Dan Roberts, Head Teacher at DHSB, Justine Mason, Principal at Heles Academy and Tamsin Lamb from the Crofty MAT. Big thank you to Claire Meakin and her generous team and fantastic students. Really enjoyed the day and look forward to seeing how the follow up workshop goes.

Jo’s Steelies
I think our students were surprised to see our new VP Jo Ware in engineering lessons. Great steelies!

Well Being
We love Well Being at UTC Plymouth and as part of our ongoing quest to improve our students lives both physically and mentally we have created some additional choices with music and art.

Cute Puppy Post!
Finally how can you not love finishing the week with the cutest puppy picture!
So I am hoping that this little fella is coming home with me in April! Can’t wait to go visit him at half term!
