Welcome to the Principals Blog Week 8

It has been an extremely busy week (once again) and our feet have not touched the ground. We have welcomed visitors, answered inquiries and have marked a seemingly endless sea of books. This in itself is all part of working within the education sector – but it does teach us about what is important;

Take the time to rest. I saw one of my dedicated colleagues having lunch at her desk this afternoon. It’s vital that we all give ourselves time to rest, especially during the working day.

Reflect on your day. There is so much change in a busy environment such as this, and it’s good to keep track of what you have achieved and what did (or didn’t) work.

Listen carefully. Listening is a really important skill and how well you listen has a major impact on your job effectiveness.

Be courageous. It’s not something we are all born with and indeed, it’s not something that comes easily to us all but with a little patience and time, it will come.

That being said, I am fiercely proud of my team because they endlessly go above and beyond day after day. I am constantly blown away about the dedication and resilience of our fantastic students – every hour, one of these wonderful young people make my heart sing and that helps us on our own journey.

This blog is a little about just that – the efforts of our amazing students. One of the brilliant programmes that we have here is called Visible Learning and we use it to demonstrate the consistent high standards of work that is produced every day here at the UTC.

I would like to show off some of this work right now, as our students love producing this excellent work, just as much as my amazing team embrace it.

Thank you so much for reading, please have a wonderful and relaxing weekend and I’ll see you all again soon.
