This week it has been rather quiet around the college due to Year 10’s and 12’s gaining some valuable work experience. Our students have been working throughout the Plymouth area for a range of organisations, these include; Babcock, Wrigley, Royal Navy, Princess Yachts, UTC Aerospace, Rittal, Pipex, Kawasaki and many more. I have heard nothing but positive feedback from staff visits and the employers, who all have spoken highly of our student’s work ethic and knowledge.
We have also had some students conduct their work experience within the college. With students gaining experience in IT and mechanics. The students who have been working in the mechanic’s workshop have been building karts all week, and you can see below what a great job they have done.
Open Day Success
Last Saturday was our open day and it was a great success! Visitors were impressed by the college which resulted in a lot of them signing up to join the college for the 17/18 academic year. A big thanks to everyone involved and if you were not able to make it but would still like to visit the college then get on contact with the team on 01752 284250 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Student’s of the Week
We have two nominations for student of the week, so we have decided to pick both of them. Well done to Annabell Mears and Kaye Richards who have both been working in the IT department this week. Jason and Neil, who work in the IT department, have nominated these two due to them being excellent in the work experience week. Well done girls!
UTC think 14…
As you know, UTC’s are vital to solving the problem of creating work-ready young people when they leave college. A recent video made by the UTC body illustrates the importance of UTC’s to 14 year-olds.
