Students at UTC Plymouth take part in a range of traditional and academic sports across the academic year. Participating in sports not only improves our student’s health & wellbeing, it also helps develop key skills for the working environment such as communication, leadership and the ability to work in a team.
We are privileged here at UTC Plymouth to have a newly built multi-purpose sports hall at our disposal. It is used by all years for a range of indoor sporting activities including, football, basketball and netball; as well as hosting team/competition events that are run regularly by our partners and visitors. The hall is also used for our students to sit their exams and provides a large space for whole school assemblies/presentations.
In addition to our sports hall, we also hire out a local sports field in Devonport park which hosts our outdoor rugby and football PE lessons, and we also regularly use the facilities at Plymouth’s Life Centre so that students can take part in sports such as rock climbing and swimming.
Providing a range of sporting opportunities encourages a healthy lifestyle and compliments a certain culture that we want strengthen here at UTC.
