Who is the qualification for?

If you enjoy being creative, want to increase your practical skills and improve your analytical, communication and research abilities, art and design is a great choice.

The skills you gain make it a great complement to other subjects with a particularly strong link to Engineering. Art & Engineering skills go hand in hand, allowing to create cross-curricular bridges and merge your creative skills between the two areas.

Art and design is a way of seeing things and making sense of the world around you. It can help you with further study and prepare you for the world of work. You will explore and experiment with a wide range of materials and techniques, including; painting and drawing, 3D modelling, printing, digital art and many more.

What can the qualification lead to?

Studying Art & Design at GCSE level can be a great stepping stone towards pursuing a career within the creative sector but even if you don’t want to take your art further, the transferable skills you gain will still be valuable. You’ll develop problem-solving, creative thinking, investigation, research, communication and teamwork skills, the ability to express yourself creatively and take onboard viewpoints of others, and gain the ability to develop, refine and present ideas. Employers and universities regard all of these highly.

How is the qualification assessed?
